2017 1881 Cabernet Sauvignon Stag's Leap
1881 wines focus on site-specific focused Cabernet's. This Stags Leap Cabernet is 100% indicative of the sheer quality coming from this AVA. This one is lush cassis, plum sauce, and blueberry aromas and flavors, and a note of mocha and loam on the smooth finish.
The AVA-designated 1881 Napa wines are crafted by Thane Knutson especially to be housed in the historic residence adjacent to Oakville Grocery. The Victorian was once the residence of the founders of the Oakville Grocery, which has been in operation since 1881 and is the oldest continuously operated grocery store in California. Stags Leap district was made famous by the Judgement of Paris tasting when a Stags Leap Cabernet beat all Bordeaux in the line-up at the 1976 tasting. This one is a winner as well with lush cassis, plum sauce and blueberry aromas and flavors and a note of mocha and loam on the smooth finish.
