Randy Dunn has been making Howell Mtn Cabernet since 1978 and found out immediately that the mountain grapes will always be completely different from valley floor. This 97-point masterpiece shows the true strength of the 2016 vintage. It’s tight, lean, and full of character. Mulling spice and charred barrel hit the senses with an overwhelming amount of blue fruit. Although it would benefit with some rest for a few years, it could be decanted and sipped on right now.
