Dark and dense black fruit flow off the rim of this not-so-dainty Grenache. It’s a rush of chocolate covered cherries, cassis, ripe plum, and candied violets. The vines age from 10-65+ years in age so the palate has bit of vibrant and dusty fruit. Switch things up a bit and try some French Grenache that will rival that Prisoner and Cabernet from Orin Swift.

The French connection from Napa Valley has almost always been present. We just can’t get enough of each other and our wines. Dave Phinney, infamous for making Prisoner wines, is no different. He couldn’t help himself back in 2008 when he purchased up some land in the deep Southwest corner of France in Department 66, AKA Northern Catalonia. He fell in love with the land, the people, and of course the fruit. About 2 hours from Barcelona sits 40 acres of perfect old-vine Grenache. The granite-rich soil and Phinney’s winemaking touch create a French wine that all Orin Swift and Prisoner wine fans will love.
