2016 Morlet Les Petits Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
"Deep ruby, opaque to the core. Gorgeous from the get-go on the nose - all Cabernet black fruit overlayered with green leaf, fresh green herbs, cigar box and a hint of classic graphite. The palate is exuberantly youthful still; all freshly picked brambles, fresh currants, cranberry and strawberry. The wine is weighty in the mouth, dense still as the tannins struggle to contain the concentration of fruit. The tannins 'win' the battle however as the wine begins to tighten towards the finish and turn inwards on itself - just a sign of its youth. This is a wine in its most vigorous stage right now, really brimming with pleasure. Tame it with hearty food, decant it half an hour before serving, warm it up a little, serve with strong cheese. Or keep it another decade or two; it will mellow beautifully. 93 points"
