Led by Will Harlan, son of Bill Harlan, Promontory is a wine from within a secluded canyon off Oakville Grade with two distinct fault lines, roughly demarcating the boundaries between volcanic, sedimentary, and metamorphic soils, stretched across 500 feet of elevation. The wine is “...opaque, dense purple... with notes of graphite, wet rocks, blackberry, and blueberry fruit, some charcoal... loads of spice and loamy soil nuances...the wine has great intensity, a full-bodied texture, and finely grained, sweet tannin. This is a stunner…” says Wine Advocate with a near-perfect 99 points. Accessible now but will age for decades. The grape doesn’t fall far from the vine!
